Arizona schools would have to automatically place qualified 6th, 7th, and 8th graders into the next available advanced math class unless a parent opts out. Students qualify by earning the top score in math on state or aligned local tests. Parents must be told why the student was placed and how to decline. The bill also keeps notice rules for students who are behind in math, helping families act earlier.
