Concerning the removal of deceased candidates for nonpartisan office from ballots (HB 2574)

Score:

%

Washington

2026

If a nonpartisan local candidate dies, the county auditor must act to keep ballots accurate. If a primary was held, the third-place finisher moves to the general if ballots aren’t printed yet. If general ballots are already printed, votes for the deceased won’t be counted. If there was no primary the name is left off when possible. If the only candidate dies, the race has no candidate and is handled under current rules.
