The CEO Act would tax very large companies when the top-paid executive makes more than 50 times the median worker’s pay. The bigger the gap, the bigger the tax, with rules meant to stop firms from hiding workers as contractors. This could push companies to raise worker pay, slow extreme executive pay, and bring in more federal revenue, though some firms may pass costs on or change pay practices.
