Washington would plan how to add advanced nuclear power to meet clean energy goals and rising electricity demand. If outside funding is secured, the state will publish a nuclear strategy by Dec. 2026 with goals, roles, and steps for financing, siting, permitting, and tribal consultation. It may speed reviews at Hanford and former coal/gas sites, consider tax aids and ways to reduce financial risk, coordinate with other states, create training paths, seek public input, and track impacts on jobs, costs, and grid reliability.
