This bill sets uniform standards for sheriffs, police chiefs, and town marshals: age 25+, five years law enforcement experience, background checks, and keeping state certification. Sheriffs must enforce Washington law. Losing certification means removal. Volunteers and youth cadets may only do support tasks (no arrests, force, weapons, or using dogs to catch people), must be supervised, and be clearly identified. Public posting of checks adds transparency. Repeals an outdated law.
