This bill requires the Attorney General to deliver an annual report to Congress with demographic data on people denied firearm purchases after a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) review. The report must include, when available, details such as race, ethnicity, sex, age, disability, income, and English proficiency. This data would be organized both by the reason for denial and for cases where a denial was later overturned on appeal. While it does not change existing gun laws or background check procedures, the bill aims to improve transparency, help Congress spot problems or biases in the system, and guide future policy decisions.
