Traveler Privacy Protection Act (S1691)

Score:

%

Federal

2025

The Traveler Privacy Protection Act of 2025 would require the TSA to give all passengers the option to verify their identity without using facial recognition and ensure that travelers are clearly informed of this choice. It would ban the TSA from treating those who opt out unfairly, limit the use of facial recognition to identity verification at security checkpoints, and prevent the agency from storing traveler data obtained through facial recognition indefinitely. The bill would also prohibit the use of facial recognition to profile, target, or discriminate against individuals for exercising their constitutional rights, or to enable broad surveillance, monitoring, or tracking.
