32BJ SEIU Virginia State Council is the state-level body affiliated with SEIU Local 32BJ that represents building services and property-service workers in Virginia, including janitors, doormen, security officers, maintenance staff, and related occupations; it organizes members, negotiates contracts, enforces labor standards, and advocates for improved wages, benefits, workplace safety, and immigrant worker protections at the state and local level.
Collective bargaining and contract enforcement, living wages and minimum-wage advocacy, paid sick leave and paid family leave, workplace safety and health protections, immigrant worker rights and regularization, anti-wage-theft and labor standards enforcement, access to affordable healthcare and retirement benefits, and political endorsements and electoral engagement on labor and progressive issues.
Primarily funded by member dues and assessments, supplemented by contributions to affiliated political action committees and occasional grants or donations for specific organizing and advocacy campaigns.
