Description: AARP Florida is the state office of AARP, the national membership and advocacy organization for people age 50+. It promotes the well‑being and economic security of older Floridians through public education, direct services, community programs and state‑level advocacy on health care, retirement security, caregiving and livable/age‑friendly communities. Type: Non‑profit advocacy organization (state office of AARP; AARP is organized as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization) Policies: Advocacy on Medicare/Medicaid and prescription drug affordability, Social Security and retirement security, long‑term services and supports/caregiver issues, consumer protection and fraud prevention, affordable housing and transportation, utility and health care affordability, and age‑friendly community initiatives and voter engagement for older adults. Funding: Primarily funded by member dues and membership‑related revenue, supplemented by program/service revenue, sponsorships and grants; charitable and tax‑deductible work is conducted through the affiliated AARP Foundation (a separate 501(c)(3)).
