About the Organization

The ACLU of Utah is the state affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union that works to defend and preserve individual rights and liberties in Utah through litigation, public education, policy advocacy, and community organizing.

Policy Goals

Advocates for civil liberties and civil rights including free speech and assembly, privacy and surveillance limits, criminal justice reform and sentencing, police accountability, voting rights, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, immigrant rights, and equitable access to education and public services

Funding

Primarily funded by individual donations and membership dues, supplemented by foundation grants and fundraising events

Affiliates

American Civil Liberties Union (national) and the ACLU Foundation; frequently partners with other civil rights and legal advocacy organizations on coalition campaigns
