About the Organization

The Alliance for Children’s Rights is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit that delivers free legal representation, social services, training, and systemic advocacy for children, youth, caregivers, and young adults impacted by foster care, abuse, neglect, adoption, and guardianship. The organization combines direct client services with policy work to secure stable homes, access to education and healthcare, and supports for transition‑age youth.

Policy Goals

Child welfare reform; foster care and adoption policy; guardianship and kinship care supports; access to education and special education services; health coverage and behavioral health for children and youth; housing and transition‑age youth supports; legal protections for minors and policy solutions to reduce family separation.

Funding

Primarily private philanthropy (individual donors and foundations), corporate partnerships and sponsorships, grants and event fundraising, supplemented by government grants and significant in‑kind pro bono legal services from law firms.

Affiliates

Works closely with pro bono law firms and corporate partners, community nonprofits focused on foster youth (e.g., Alliance of Moms and other local partners), and a board and donor network that includes leaders from the legal, entertainment, and philanthropic sectors.
