America's Credit Unions is the national trade association representing U.S. credit unions formed from the merger of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the National Association of Federally‑Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU). The organization provides federal advocacy, regulatory and compliance support, education, industry research, and member services to help credit unions serve their members and communities.
Federal and state legislative and regulatory advocacy on banking and financial services issues that affect credit unions, including regulatory relief, tax and charter treatment, consumer finance and consumer protection rules (e.g., overdraft and fee regulation), payments and fintech policy, data privacy and cybersecurity, deposit insurance and liquidity, community development and small‑dollar lending, and oversight of regulators affecting credit unions.
Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from credit unions, plus revenue from events and conferences, training and professional services, sponsorships, and other member‑service activities.
State credit union leagues and system partners, National Credit Union Foundation, legacy organizations CUNA and NAFCU (now under the America's Credit Unions umbrella), and the industry political arm Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC); prominent leaders have included Jim Nussle and Scott Simpson.
