About the Organization

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) is the largest U.S. professional organization of orthopaedic surgeons and musculoskeletal specialists, dedicated to advancing musculoskeletal care through education, research, clinical practice guidelines, quality improvement, and public patient‑education resources.

Policy Goals

Advocacy on physician practice and reimbursement (coding/Medicare/Medicaid), scope‑of‑practice and workforce issues, clinical practice guidelines and quality improvement, device and drug regulation affecting orthopaedics, surgical standards and patient safety, opioid/stewardship policies, medical liability reform, continuing medical education and residency/fellowship training support

Funding

Primarily membership dues and subscription fees, revenue from annual meetings and CME courses, publications and educational products, grants and philanthropic contributions, and corporate sponsorships/industry partnerships (medical device and pharmaceutical companies)
