The Washington Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (WA-ACEP) is a state professional organization representing emergency physicians in Washington State. Its mission is to advance emergency care through education, clinical quality improvement, member support and state-level advocacy to protect patient access and strengthen emergency medicine practice.
State and local health care policies affecting emergency medicine, including access to emergency care, EMS and disaster preparedness, reimbursement and payment reform (including balance/surprise billing), workforce and scope-of-practice issues, public health and injury prevention, patient safety and clinical quality, and regulatory/policy matters affecting hospitals and emergency departments.
Primarily funded by member dues and fees, event and continuing medical education revenue, sponsorships/exhibits, and grants; the chapter also maintains a separate PAC that accepts individual political contributions.
American College of Emergency Physicians (national), WA-ACEP PAC (chapter political action committee), Washington State Medical Association, major state hospital systems and academic emergency medicine departments (e.g., University of Washington Department of Emergency Medicine) and local emergency physician leadership.
