About the Organization

The American Energy Alliance (AEA) is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit grassroots advocacy organization founded in 2008 that campaigns for free-market energy policies. AEA says it educates and mobilizes citizens and policymakers to promote affordable, abundant, and reliable energy and to oppose regulations and policies it views as harmful to energy affordability and economic growth.

Policy Goals

Advocates free-market energy and environmental policies at the state and federal level, including increased domestic oil and gas production, reduced regulatory burdens on energy infrastructure, opposition to renewable mandates and carbon pricing, and support for consumer choice in transportation and energy markets.

Funding

Reports funding from private contributions — individuals, foundations, and corporations — and states it does not accept government funding; its work is financed by private donors aligned with free-market and energy-industry interests.

Affiliates

Affiliated with the Institute for Energy Research (IER) and part of a network of free-market conservative energy organizations; leadership includes Tom Pyle and other figures active in conservative energy advocacy.
