About the Organization

The American Public Gas Association (APGA) is a not-for-profit trade association that represents publicly- and community-owned local natural gas distribution utilities across the United States. APGA advocates for the operational, regulatory, and legislative interests of municipal gas systems and provides education, technical resources, conferences, and programs to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency for member utilities and the communities they serve.

Policy Goals

Advocacy on federal and state energy and utility regulation affecting public gas local distribution companies (LDCs), pipeline safety and integrity, infrastructure investment and grant programs, ratepayer protections and affordability, codes and standards for gas use and appliances, workforce development and training, and regulatory/legislative positions that support continued service and local control of public gas systems.

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues from publicly owned gas utilities and fees from associate members and national sponsors, plus revenue from conferences, events, training programs, and other member services.

Affiliates

State and regional municipal gas associations, APGA Research Foundation, APGA Security & Integrity Foundation, associate member companies and national sponsors (equipment and service providers), and APGA leadership such as President & CEO Dave Schryver.
