About the Organization

Americans for Redistricting Reform (ARR) is a nonpartisan coalition launched in 2008–2009 to raise public awareness of partisan gerrymandering and to promote fair, transparent redistricting processes. It served as a clearinghouse and coordinating network for advocacy, research, and model reform proposals—advocating independent commissions, public participation, and standards that respect the Voting Rights Act and communities of interest.

Policy Goals

Redistricting reform focused on independent or bipartisan commissions, transparency and public input in map-drawing, adherence to the Voting Rights Act, use of objective districting criteria (compactness, respect for political subdivisions and communities of interest), competitiveness and partisan fairness, public education and technical support for state-level reform campaigns.
