Asian American Midwest Progressives (AAMP) is a regional progressive Asian American and Pacific Islander civic organization founded in December 2018 that builds political power through collective advocacy and electoral organizing. AAMP mobilizes AAPI voters, endorses and supports progressive candidates, conducts in-language outreach, and advances racial equity and anti-xenophobia work across Illinois and Ohio while organizing in coalition with other communities of color.
Electoral engagement and candidate endorsements, voter registration and turnout among AAPI communities, racial equity and anti-discrimination policy, immigrant and refugee justice, anti-hate/anti-xenophobia initiatives, economic justice (including progressive tax reform), and coalition-based social justice advocacy with Black, Latine, and Indigenous communities.
Primarily funded by individual and grassroots contributions and small-dollar online donations (the organization solicits donations via online fundraising platforms); funding may also include political fundraising for advocacy and in-kind support from allied groups.
Associated 501(c)(3) Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Chicago; regional chapters in Illinois and Ohio; has worked with and endorsed progressive elected officials and candidates such as Nabeela Syed, Hoan Huynh, and Brandon Johnson.
