The Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (AFWA), founded in 1902, is a professional organization that represents North America’s state, provincial, and territorial fish and wildlife agencies. It serves as the collective voice of these public agencies, advocating for their roles, responsibilities, and authorities to manage fish and wildlife as public trust resources and to advance sound, science-based conservation and habitat management policy.
Fish and wildlife conservation and management, habitat protection and restoration, wildlife disease management, invasive species control, conservation funding mechanisms, hunting and fishing policy, and federal and state natural resource funding and regulatory policy.
Primarily supported through membership dues from state, provincial, and territorial fish and wildlife agencies, as well as conference revenue and grants related to conservation initiatives.
State and provincial fish and wildlife agencies across the United States and Canada, as well as regional associations including the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (WAFWA), Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA), Midwest Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and Northeast Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.
