About the Organization

The Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) is a national nonprofit membership organization that advances the health and well-being of women, children, youth, families, and communities by strengthening governmental public health systems, providing technical assistance, sharing best practices, convening leaders, and advocating for maternal and child health policy at the federal and state levels.

Policy Goals

Advocacy and technical leadership on Title V maternal and child health programs, Medicaid and CHIP policy affecting pregnant people and children, maternal mortality and morbidity prevention, perinatal quality improvement, home visiting, newborn screening, early childhood systems, reproductive and family planning services, adolescent behavioral health and substance-use policy, health equity, public health workforce development, data systems, performance measurement, and federal appropriations for MCH programs.

Funding

Combination of federal grants and contracts (including support from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau and CDC), foundation grants, corporate and philanthropic support, and membership dues.

Affiliates

State and territorial Title V maternal and child health programs and state health departments, the HRSA Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Maternal and Child Health Appropriations Alliance and other national MCH partner organizations, academic institutions, and philanthropic partners such as the Commonwealth Fund and Lucile Packard Foundation.
