About the Organization

The Better World Campaign is a nonpartisan U.S.-based advocacy organization that works to strengthen the relationship between the United States and the United Nations by educating policymakers, building congressional support, and mobilizing public awareness of the UN’s work in peacekeeping, humanitarian response, global health, and sustainable development. Founded in 1999 as part of the Better World Fund, it operates alongside the United Nations Foundation to promote U.S. leadership and funding for multilateral solutions.

Policy Goals

Advocacy for robust U.S.-UN engagement and full, timely U.S. payment of assessed UN and peacekeeping dues; congressional appropriations for UN agencies and programs; support for UN-led peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, global health initiatives (vaccination, malaria, maternal and child health), development programs, and the Sustainable Development Goals; promotion of multilateral diplomacy as a tool of U.S. foreign policy.

Funding

Primarily funded by philanthropic donations and grants, including financial support and partnership with the United Nations Foundation and the Better World Fund; initial founding support came from philanthropist Ted Turner; ongoing revenues include contributions from individual donors, foundations, and partner organizations.

Affiliates

United Nations Foundation, Better World Fund, United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), the Global Leadership Council, and philanthropist Ted Turner; senior leaders historically associated include Peter Yeo and other UN Foundation executives.
