Bike HoCo – Bicycling Advocates of Howard County is a Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2008 as a coalition of local cycling clubs and riders. The organization works to improve bicycling safety, access, and visibility in Howard County and promotes bicycling as a healthy, environmentally sustainable, and energy-efficient transportation option. It engages in advocacy, education programs for adults and children, and implementation of the county’s Bicycle Master Plan.
Active transportation and bicycle infrastructure planning, complete streets policies, bicycle and pedestrian safety laws, implementation of county and state bicycle master plans, and public education initiatives related to sustainable transportation and road safety.
Primarily funded through individual donations, membership contributions, and community fundraising events.
Free Bikes 4 Kidz Maryland, Bike Maryland, Smarter Growth Alliance for Howard County, Streets for All Coalition, and advisory partnerships with Howard County government boards and agencies.
