Black Voters Matter is a national civic engagement and power-building organization founded in 2016 that works to increase political influence and community power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. Through voter registration, turnout efforts, grassroots organizing, leadership development, and capacity building for local groups, the organization seeks to strengthen Black political participation and advance policies that improve community well-being.
Voting rights and ballot access, opposition to voter suppression measures, expansion of early voting, restoration of voting rights for returning citizens, civic engagement and grassroots capacity building, criminal justice reform, economic and housing justice, healthcare access, and leadership development for Black communities
Primarily funded through individual donations and small-dollar online fundraising, along with grants from philanthropic foundations and partnerships with aligned organizations
