About the Organization

The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is an independent, nonpartisan law and policy organization dedicated to reforming, revitalizing, and defending the systems of democracy and justice in the United States. Founded in honor of Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr., the Center conducts research, develops policy proposals, engages in public education, and participates in litigation to promote voting rights, fair elections, constitutional protections, and criminal justice reform.

Policy Goals

Voting rights and election administration, campaign finance regulation, redistricting reform, protection of constitutional rights, Supreme Court and judicial reform, criminal justice reform, and rule of law initiatives at the federal and state levels

Funding

Primarily funded through foundation grants and charitable contributions from individuals, including major philanthropic foundations
