About the Organization

The California LGBTQ Health & Human Services Network is a statewide coalition and program of Health Access that brings together nonprofit providers, community centers, researchers, and advocates to advance LGBTQ health equity in California. Founded in 2007, the Network provides coordinated leadership on LGBTQ-focused health policy, technical assistance, training, and statewide convenings to ensure LGBTQ communities have a distinct voice in health policy decision-making.

Policy Goals

State-level LGBTQ health equity and access (including Medi-Cal and public coverage), behavioral and mental health services for LGBTQ people, collection and use of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data, tobacco-use and chronic disease disparity reduction, HIV prevention and care, culturally competent service delivery, youth and family services, aging and long-term care needs, anti-discrimination in health care, and community-based workforce development and funding

Funding

Primarily funded through state contracts and grants, foundation and philanthropic grants, project-specific public funding, and administrative support from Health Access; also supported by partnerships and member organization contributions

Affiliates

Health Access California (parent program), #Out4MentalHealth campaign, We Breathe tobacco disparity project, ACEs Aware collaborations, California Department of Public Health partnerships, and frequent partners including Equality California, Transgender Law Center, and local LGBTQ community centers; current and recent Network leadership includes Dannie Ceseña and former director Amanda McAllister-Wallner
