The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is a Washington, D.C.–based consumer advocacy organization founded in 1971 that promotes evidence-based policies on nutrition, food safety, and public health. It conducts research, engages in litigation and regulatory advocacy, and works to hold government agencies and food and beverage companies accountable while providing independent health information to consumers.
Nutrition and food labeling standards, food safety regulations, dietary guidelines, school nutrition programs, SNAP and food assistance policy, food chemical and additive safety, alcohol policy, vaccine and public health protections, and regulatory transparency and accountability.
Primarily funded through individual donations and subscriptions to its publication, Nutrition Action, and does not accept corporate or government funding.
