The Central Coast Coalition for Inclusive Schools (CCC4IS) is a regional advocacy coalition formed in 2014 that works to create safe, affirming school environments for LGBTQ+ students and other historically marginalized youth. CCC4IS supports implementation of state law, assists school districts and Gay–Straight Alliances, provides staff training, collects local data, and partners with universities and community nonprofits to advance inclusive school practices.
Advocates for LGBTQ+ inclusion and anti-bullying policies in K–12 schools, implementation of inclusive curricula and comprehensive sexual health education, gender-affirming school practices, suicide-prevention policies for LGBTQ youth, school board and district-level policy change, and professional development for educators on equity and student safety.
Primarily volunteer-led and supported through donations, small grants, and in-kind partnerships and technical support from local institutions such as universities and community nonprofits.
Works with Cal Poly School of Education and local nonprofit and school-district partners; local Gay–Straight Alliances and community leaders have been active collaborators; named local contacts and leaders have included Elizabeth Meyer, Douglas J. Heumann, and Cal Poly advisors.
