About the Organization

The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW) is a nationwide alliance of employer associations and business organizations representing millions of businesses across diverse industries. Formed in 2005 in opposition to the proposed Employee Free Choice Act, CDW advocates for the preservation of secret ballot union elections and promotes what it describes as balanced federal labor policies that protect the rights of employers and employees. The coalition is active in legislative, regulatory, and legal debates involving the National Labor Relations Act and the National Labor Relations Board.

Policy Goals

Federal labor and employment law, union organizing and secret ballot elections, National Labor Relations Board rulemaking and oversight, joint-employer standards, independent contractor classification, and opposition to legislation such as the PRO Act and other measures expanding union organizing authority

Financial support from member trade associations, industry groups, and employer organizations
