Description: The Coalition on Human Needs (CHN) is a national alliance of over 100 civil‑rights, faith‑based, labor, service provider and policy organizations that works to expand and defend federal investments in health care, nutrition, income supports, housing, education and other programs that reduce poverty and protect vulnerable populations. Type: Non-profit coalition (national advocacy organization) Policies: Federal anti‑poverty and social safety‑net policies; budget and appropriations for SNAP, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and SSI; affordable housing and homelessness prevention; child welfare and early childhood supports; education and workforce development; immigrant and civil‑rights protections; tax and economic policies that affect low‑income communities Funding: Primarily foundation and philanthropic grants plus dues and contributions from member organizations and individual donors Affiliates: Member organizations include national anti‑poverty, civil‑rights, faith‑based and labor groups such as the Food Research & Action Center, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, SEIU, National Women’s Law Center, and UnidosUS
