The Colorado Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is a state government agency responsible for managing and conserving Colorado’s natural resources, including water, wildlife, parks, minerals, forestry, and energy resources. Its mission is to develop, protect, and enhance the state’s natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
Conservation and management of public lands, water rights and water management, wildlife protection, state parks and outdoor recreation, forestry and wildfire mitigation, energy and mineral development, and environmental stewardship policies.
Primarily funded through state appropriations, federal grants, fees, permits, and revenue generated from resource leasing and licensing.
