About the Organization

The Committee for Economic Development (CED) is the public‑policy center of The Conference Board. Founded in 1942, CED is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, business‑led organization that produces research and reasoned policy recommendations aimed at promoting sustained economic growth, broad‑based opportunity, and pragmatic solutions to national economic and social challenges.

Policy Goals

Economic and fiscal policy; tax and budget reform; trade and international economic policy; education and workforce development (early childhood through postsecondary and skills training); corporate governance and business responsibility; healthcare policy; infrastructure and energy/clean energy transition; immigration policy related to skilled workers; social mobility and equal economic opportunity.

Funding

Primarily funded by contributions, dues, and grants from corporate trustees and member companies of The Conference Board, supplemented by foundation grants and revenue from events, programs, and publications.

Affiliates

The Conference Board (parent organization); a board of CED trustees composed of chief executives and senior executives from leading U.S. companies; partnerships with business associations, foundations, and academic experts.
