About the Organization

The Downeast Lobstermen’s Association is a Maine-based nonprofit organization that represents and advocates for independent lobstermen and fishing families in Downeast Maine. Its mission is to sustain Maine’s lobster industry by supporting responsible fisheries management, protecting working waterfronts, and promoting policies that preserve the economic viability of small-scale fishing communities.

Policy Goals

Commercial fisheries management, marine conservation regulations, right whale protection measures, working waterfront preservation, small business protections for fishermen, and state and federal policies affecting the lobster industry
