About the Organization

The Endangered Species Coalition is a U.S.-based nonprofit coalition that works to stop human-caused extinctions, protect and restore threatened and endangered species and their habitats, and defend and strengthen the Endangered Species Act through grassroots organizing, public education and targeted advocacy campaigns.

Policy Goals

Defend and strengthen the Endangered Species Act; secure listings and critical habitat designations; protect and restore habitat; increase federal and state funding for species recovery and conservation programs; promote science-based decisionmaking; oppose regulatory rollbacks or legislative changes that weaken species protections; mobilize public comment and grassroots pressure on administrative and legislative actions affecting biodiversity.

Funding

Primarily foundation grants and individual donations, supplemented by member organization support and occasional project grants and bequests.

Works as a coalition with national and local conservation and advocacy groups, including organizations such as Defenders of Wildlife, Sierra Club, National Audubon Society, Center for Biological Diversity, and The Wilderness Society
