About the Organization

The Florida Nurses Association (FNA) is a statewide professional organization representing registered nurses across specialties in Florida. Its mission is to advance the profession of nursing, promote excellence in practice, support professional development, and advocate for the health of Floridians through legislative and regulatory engagement.

Policy Goals

Advocacy on nursing practice and scope of practice, workplace and staffing standards (safe staffing, workplace safety), nursing education and licensure, public health and patient safety, healthcare workforce policy, professional development and continuing education, and collective bargaining/employee representation where applicable.

Funding

Primarily membership dues, continuing-education and event fees, foundation grants and donations (via the Florida Nurses Foundation), and contract or union-due revenue for units represented through affiliated labor locals.

Affiliates

American Nurses Association; Florida Nurses Foundation; Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 713 and affiliated AFL-CIO networks; regional FNA chapters and local bargaining units.

Legal Structure

Nonprofit professional association (state constituent of the American Nurses Association) that also performs labor/collective-bargaining representation through affiliation with a union local in some bargaining units.
