About the Organization

The Florida Police Benevolent Association (Florida PBA) is a statewide police union and professional association founded in 1972 that represents active and retired law enforcement and corrections officers across Florida (roughly 30,000–40,000 members). The organization provides collective bargaining support, legal defense and benefits, professional education, and legislative and political advocacy on matters affecting public safety and officer welfare.

Policy Goals

Collective bargaining and labor rights for officers; pay, benefits, pensions and disability protections; legal representation and due-process protections for members; advocacy for funding of public safety and law enforcement resources; endorsements and electoral activity; opposition to measures perceived to limit officer authority or qualified immunity and support for 'law-and-order' criminal justice policies.

Funding

Primarily membership dues and chapter fees, supplemented by fundraising, events and benefit programs, and political contributions raised through affiliated political committees/PACs.

Affiliates

Numerous semi-autonomous local and regional charters such as the South Florida PBA, Palm Beach County PBA, Broward County PBA and West Central Florida PBA, and affiliated political committees (e.g., state PBA PACs); current statewide leadership includes President John Kazanjian and senior executive officers of the Florida PBA.
