About the Organization

The Florida Senate is the upper chamber of the Florida Legislature, responsible for crafting, debating, and passing state laws. It represents the citizens of Florida through 40 elected senators and works with the Florida House of Representatives and the Governor to enact legislation, approve the state budget, and provide oversight of state government operations.
