Freedom Virginia is a nonpartisan 501(c)(4) advocacy organization founded in 2020 that advances economic security for Virginia families through grassroots organizing, voter engagement, storytelling, and state legislative advocacy. The group works to make health care, energy, housing, and childcare more affordable and to promote tax and labor policies it says will help hardworking Virginians get ahead.
Economic security and tax fairness (earned income tax credit, child tax credits), health care affordability including prescription drug pricing reforms, paid family and medical leave and paid sick days, affordable housing and homebuyer supports, energy affordability and utility fee reform, consumer protection against hidden fees, and grassroots voter engagement.
Primarily foundation grants and philanthropic donations, supplemented by individual contributions and allied organizational support.
Coalition partners and labor allies such as Virginians for Affordable Medicine, SEIU Virginia Local 512, and New Virginia Majority; organizational leaders include co‑executive directors Rhena Hicks and Ryan O’Toole.
