Girls for Gender Equity (GGE) is a Brooklyn-based nonprofit that advances gender and racial justice for girls and gender-expansive youth, with a focus on the safety, leadership development, and civic participation of Black girls and trans and nonbinary young people. GGE combines youth leadership programs, community organizing, and policy advocacy to address school discipline, gender-based violence, reproductive and sexual health access, and broader systems of inequality.
Works on policies related to gender equity and racial justice, youth leadership and civic engagement, school discipline reform and restorative justice, sexual and reproductive health access, prevention of gender-based violence, juvenile justice reform, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and economic and educational equity for marginalized girls and gender-expansive youth.
Primarily funded through foundation and philanthropic grants, government and public grants and contracts, and individual donations and fundraising.
Partners with local schools and community-based organizations, youth-led coalitions and networks, and national gender- and racial-justice advocacy groups; collaborates regularly with community organizers, educators, and youth activists.
