About the Organization

The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) is a national nonprofit organization that represents the state and territorial highway safety offices responsible for implementing federally funded traffic safety programs. Its mission is to provide leadership and advocacy to improve traffic safety, influence national policy, and reduce roadway fatalities and injuries across the United States.

Policy Goals

Highway safety funding, impaired driving prevention, distracted driving laws, seat belt and occupant protection requirements, pedestrian and bicyclist safety, teen driver safety, automated enforcement, and federal transportation safety grants

Funding

Primarily funded through membership dues from state and territorial highway safety offices, federal grants, and sponsorships from private sector partners in the transportation and insurance industries

Affiliates
