Great Basin Water Network (GBWN) is a Nevada-based nonprofit coalition that protects water resources and communities across the Great Basin. Formed to oppose large inter-basin water transfers such as the proposed Las Vegas pipeline, GBWN advances locally sustainable water use through research, public education, regulatory and legal advocacy, and community coordination.
Promotes water conservation and sustainable groundwater management; opposes large-scale inter-basin transfers and export of rural water to urban areas; defends springs, wetlands, and watershed health on public lands; advocates for tribal water rights and rural community resilience; engages in regulatory and litigation strategies and public outreach to influence water policy.
Primarily funded by individual donations, foundation and philanthropic grants, small organizational grants and gifts, and occasional in-kind support and partnerships.
