Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice is a multiracial grassroots nonprofit founded in 1997 and based in San Francisco that partners with low-income, working-class, rural, and Indigenous frontline communities to stop pollution, secure toxic cleanups, protect sacred lands, and advance environmental, public health and climate justice.
Campaigns and advocacy on hazardous waste cleanup and site remediation, opposition to new toxic facilities and incinerators, air and water quality protections, community right-to-know and civil-rights enforcement in permitting, Indigenous land protection, zero-waste and pollution prevention, green jobs and just transition policies.
Primarily funded through foundation grants, philanthropic/environmental justice grants, donations from individual supporters and community fundraising.
Works with frontline community groups (including Bayview Hunters Point organizations), Indigenous Environmental Network, El Pueblo and other regional environmental justice partners; led publicly by founder/executive director Bradley Angel.
