The Guttmacher Institute is a nonprofit research and policy organization that advances sexual and reproductive health and rights through evidence-based research, data collection, policy analysis, and public education focused on contraception, abortion, pregnancy, maternal and adolescent sexual health in the United States and globally.
Produces research and policy recommendations to expand access to contraception and abortion care, support family planning funding and services, promote comprehensive sex education and adolescent sexual health, improve maternal health outcomes, and inform evidence-based public health and reproductive rights policy.
Primarily funded by philanthropic foundations, government and international grants, and individual donations.
Works with reproductive health and rights organizations such as Planned Parenthood, international agencies like the World Health Organization and UNFPA, and academic and public health research partners.
