The Home Builders Association of Michigan is a statewide trade association representing builders, remodelers, contractors and suppliers. Its mission is to promote the residential building industry and to influence legislative, regulatory and legal issues that affect housing attainability, industry practice, and member business interests; it also operates a nonprofit workforce arm (Skilled to Build Michigan) and engages in political advocacy on housing matters.
Advocacy on housing affordability and attainability, building codes and standards, land use and zoning reform, permitting and regulatory relief, fees and taxation affecting construction, workforce development and skilled-trades training, and legal challenges to government actions that affect the building industry
Primarily funded by member dues, event and sponsorship revenue, program and partnership fees, and contributions to its affiliated political and nonprofit arms
