The Housing Assistance Council (HAC) is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1971 that supports affordable housing efforts throughout rural America. Its mission is to improve housing conditions for the rural poor, with an emphasis on the poorest households in the most rural communities. HAC provides below-market financing, technical assistance and training, research, and policy analysis to strengthen local organizations and expand affordable housing opportunities in rural areas.
