About the Organization

Human Rights Watch is an international non-governmental organization that investigates and reports on human rights abuses around the world. Its mission is to defend and protect human rights by conducting fact-finding research, public reporting, and advocacy directed at governments, international institutions, and the public.

Policy Goals

Human rights protection and promotion, including civil and political rights, refugee and migrant rights, criminal justice reform, freedom of expression, women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, children’s rights, international humanitarian law, and accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity
