The Institute for Middle East Understanding (IMEU) is a U.S.-based nonprofit project that provides reporters, policymakers, and the public with backgrounders, expert contacts, research, and commentary aimed at improving media coverage and public understanding of Palestinian perspectives, Palestinian Americans, and related Middle East issues.
Focuses on media and communications policy related to the Middle East, promoting accurate reporting on Palestine/Israel, human rights and humanitarian concerns, U.S. foreign policy toward the region, and issues affecting Palestinian diaspora communities.
Primarily supported by private donations, philanthropic grants, and individual contributions.
Works with journalists, academics, Palestinian and Arab-American advocacy organizations, and progressive media outlets to promote sources and analysis.
