About the Organization

The Independent Bankers Association of New York State (IBANYS) is a trade association representing independently owned and community-based commercial banks and thrift institutions throughout New York State. Its mission is to advocate for the interests of community banks, promote sound banking practices, and ensure that independently owned financial institutions can effectively serve their local communities.

Policy Goals

Banking regulation, financial services legislation, community banking policy, consumer financial protection rules, state and federal regulatory compliance, tax policy affecting financial institutions, cybersecurity standards, and economic development initiatives impacting community banks.

Funding

Membership dues from member banks and revenue from conferences, sponsorships, and educational programs.

Affiliates

Member community banks across New York State; affiliated with national community banking organizations such as the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA).
