Jesus People Against Pollution (JPAP) is a faith-based, grassroots environmental justice organization founded in Columbia, Mississippi to organize residents affected by industrial contamination. Led by Pastor Dr. Charlotte L. Keys, JPAP combines community organizing, advocacy, education and faith-based leadership to press for cleanup, better public health responses, safe housing and economic justice in communities burdened by pollution.
Environmental justice and pollution remediation; toxic exposure and public-health advocacy; housing and disaster recovery for affected communities; climate justice and rural economic equity; community organizing and faith-based civic engagement.
Primarily grassroots funding sources: individual and faith-community donations, small foundation grants, event fundraising and occasional project-specific grants rather than corporate sponsorship.
Founder and leader Pastor Dr. Charlotte L. Keys; partnerships and collaborations with national environmental justice groups (e.g., WE ACT for Environmental Justice), religious justice networks and faith-based advocacy organizations that have amplified JPAP’s campaigns.
