Lavender Rights Project is a Black trans‑led nonprofit based in Washington State that uses movement lawyering, direct legal services, supportive housing, community organizing, and narrative work to advance gender self‑determination, collective safety, and liberation for Black, trans, and gender‑diverse people.
Criminal legal reform and decriminalization (including bail reform), anti‑violence protections for trans and gender‑diverse people, housing justice and supportive housing, civil rights and anti‑discrimination enforcement, community‑rooted public safety alternatives, and related state and local policy advocacy and public education.
Primarily funded by foundation and philanthropic grants, individual donations and community fundraising, with occasional public grants and earned revenue from events and services.
WA State Black Trans Task Force (leadership council / founding project), Sharyon Grayson House (supportive housing program), Black Trans Legal Professionals Network, and partnerships with regional LGBTQ and racial justice organizations; Executive Director Jaelynn Scott is a visible organizational leader.
