About the Organization

The Utah Law Enforcement Legislative Committee (ULELC), also known as the Law Enforcement Legislative Committee (LELC), is a statewide coordinating body composed of leaders from Utah’s major law enforcement and public safety organizations. Its mission is to review, discuss, and provide feedback on legislation affecting law enforcement and the criminal justice system, and to educate legislators and the public on the potential community impacts of proposed bills.

Policy Goals

Criminal justice reform, public safety policy, law enforcement authority and training standards, corrections policy, prosecutorial issues, and legislation impacting policing operations and the administration of justice in Utah.

Funding

Supported through contributions and in-kind support from member law enforcement associations and participating public safety agencies.

Utah Chiefs of Police Association; Utah Sheriffs’ Association; Utah Peace Officers Association; Utah Statewide Association of Prosecutors; Utah Department of Public Safety; Utah Department of Corrections; Utah Attorney General’s Office; Utah Department of Natural Resources.
